Sunset in Neuvo Vallarta |
For the most part, he has been doing amazing. The last two weeks have been the toughest, with Luke fighting fatigue and discomfort, but being the amazingly strong and courageous young man he is, he has powered through without complaint. Needless to say his sweet radiation angels love him.
Two weeks ago, Danny and I chose to get away for a bit of rest ourselves on the beach of ole Mexico, (sounds like a song). We didn't do much, but sat under palapas on the beach, played in the ocean; enjoyed several "Happy Hours."
As I was sitting on the beach, enjoying the view, listening to the waves; looking at the tiny grains of sand I was once again humbled at the power and majesty of God. I couldn't help think about creation...
Then God said, "let the Earth beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear." And that is what happened. God called the dry ground "land" and the waters "seas." And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:9-10
I thought about with simple words from His mouth and the wave of His hand, God created every intricate and specific detail of creation and saw that it was good. Each grain of sand, the oranges and reds of each unique sunset. With these same hands, he created each of us. And as much as He loves his work with creation, He loves each of us even more. He knows the number of hairs on our head and He even calls us by name.
I am so grateful and so humbled to know that we have a God who loves me this much. That He loves each of you reading this blog and that He loves Luke and Katie this much. This same God who counts each grain of sand, knows the number of cancer cells left in Luke's body. It is comforting to know that the same God who can cause the wind and waves to fear Him can eradicate Luke's cancer if He wills it so.
Please pray for Luke's last four days of treatment.
- Energy
- Increase in appetite
- Maintain or gain weight
- Ability to sleep at night for Luke and Katie
- Perseverance and finishing strong
